Product: Alexa Skill LARA Assistant – Wellness Check-in


1. Purpose

These Terms govern the use of the LARA Assistant / Wellness Check-in Alexa Skill, a digital tool designed to support the monitoring of a person’s well-being through:

  • automated questions delivered by Alexa;

  • interpretation of the user’s spoken responses;

  • interaction logging in the system database;

  • alert notifications sent to a designated caregiver via WhatsApp, email, or voice announcements.

The Skill is intended as a support tool for human caregiving, not a replacement.


2. Nature of the Service

The Skill is NOT:

  • a medical, psychological, clinical, or nursing service;

  • an emergency, urgent-care, or crisis-response system;

  • a 24/7 monitoring service;

  • a substitute for human supervision;

  • a fall detector, accident detector, or vital-sign monitoring system.

The Skill performs:

  • scheduled wellness check-in prompts;

  • speech interpretation (“I’m fine”, “I need help”, “I fell”, etc.);

  • classification of responses (positive, attention, help, emergency);

  • automated alert notifications to the caregiver.

The Skill does NOT guarantee:

  • delivery of all alerts;

  • uninterrupted service;

  • perfect speech detection;

  • continuous uptime of Amazon, Meta, WhatsApp, or AWS services;

  • prevention of emergencies, falls, or health deterioration.


3. Technical Operation

The system depends on external services:

3.1. Alexa / Amazon

  • a functional microphone;

  • stable internet connection;

  • appropriate voice permissions;

  • availability of Amazon Alexa cloud services.

Proper function requires:

  • electrical power,

  • active Wi-Fi,

  • correctly configured Alexa devices,

  • valid API tokens and integrations.


4. User Responsibilities

The user agrees to:

  • correctly configure the Alexa device and the Skill;

  • provide accurate information for the monitored individual and caregiver;

  • keep the monitored location connected to the internet;

  • regularly check if the system is working;

  • use the Skill as a supportive tool, not a substitute for supervision.


5. Responsibilities of the Developer

Redstar Rise LLC commits to:

  • maintain technical security and best practices;

  • operate the system with reliability to the best of its capacity;

  • protect stored data according to LGPD and international standards.


6. Limitation of Liability

Redstar Rise LLC is not liable for:

  • internet outages, power failures, Wi-Fi issues, or microphone malfunction;

  • downtime or failures of Amazon Alexa, AWS, Meta, or WhatsApp services;

  • delays or failures in alert delivery;

  • incorrect speech interpretation;

  • user misconfiguration, negligence, or improper use;

  • direct, indirect, incidental, or emergency-related damages of any kind.

The Skill does not replace human supervision.

In case of a real emergency:

The monitored person or caregiver must immediately contact local emergency services (such as 911 or the appropriate equivalent).


7. Data Collection and Storage

The Skill may collect:

  • Alexa user ID and system user ID;

  • interaction logs (questions, answers, timestamps);

  • interpreted response status (positive, attention, help, emergency);

  • local time settings and timezone;

  • device technical data (no audio recording);

  • alert delivery status;

  • caregiver’s email and phone number.

The Skill does NOT collect:

  • audio recordings;

  • sensitive medical information;

  • GPS or physical location data;

  • financial information.


8. Automated Retries and Alerts

The system may perform:

  • first retry at 5 minutes;

  • second retry at 10 minutes;

  • WhatsApp alert notification;

  • automatic email alert;

  • event logging in DynamoDB.

Because these depend on third-party services, alert delivery is not guaranteed.


9. Data Deletion and Retention

  • logs have an automatic TTL (time-to-live) expiration;

  • user data remains as long as the Skill is active;

  • users may request full deletion at any time;

  • deletion requests must be sent to contato@novais-ai.com.


10. Modifications to the Service

The Skill may be updated, changed, or discontinued at any time for maintenance or security reasons. Continued use of the Skill constitutes acceptance of the most recent version of these Terms.


11. Applicable Law

For users in Brazil:

  • LGPD – Brazilian General Data Protection Law (Law 13.709/2018) applies to data rights.

For contractual purposes:

  • governed by the laws of the Federative Republic of Brazil and the State of Wyoming (USA).

Jurisdiction for disputes: Campinas/SP, Brazil.
